Or maybe you’d like to try trampolining – or learn some new dance moves? We’d love to see you at one or more of our events and brothers, sisters, parents and carers are very welcome too.

Information for parents/carers
Our events
We aim to provide high quality arts and sports events and sometimes it is necessary to target a particular age group or ability level. However, we try to ensure there is something for every child in our varied programme.
If you are not sure whether an event is suitable for your child please call for more information.
Booking
Places must be booked in advance. Please fill in a separate booking form for every child with additional needs and list any sibling/s who will be participating. Return the form/s with payment to West Dorset District Council. If you need more booking forms please make photocopies or call us to order more.
Each event costs £3 per child participating.
A 33% subsidy for those on Income Support/Jobseekers Allowance (income based) Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit. Photocopied evidence must be supplied.
Support for your child
Our support workers help children to get the most out of an event and one to one help is available if needed. We use the booking information you provide to assess your child’s needs.
All our workshop leaders and coaches are talented in their fields and experienced in working with children with additional needs. They will (as far as possible) adapt each event to suit those children who have booked.
Stay or leave
You are welcome to participate in the event or to relax on-site nearby. Or you can choose to leave your child and return to the venue at the end of the session. This may not be possible if your child has complex needs or needs medicating but please call so that we can discuss this with you.
Children who use wheelchairs
All arts events, including drama and dance, are designed to include children who use wheelchairs and venues are accessible. At sports events our coaches will suggest options for participants using wheelchairs.
Health and Safety
You will be required to sign in and sign out your child and if you leave your child you must be available on an emergency telephone number. A nurse and/or a supervisor trained in first aid will be present at all events.
Every care is taken to keep children safe and we can provide details about West Dorset District Council’s Health and Safety and other policies and procedures that apply to the events on request.
